Recognition, Redistribution and Popular Participation: Towards an Integrative Judicial Policy

FOOD AND NUTRITIONAL SAFETY SEMINAR FOR TRADITIONAL PEOPLE AND COMMUNITIES | Rio de Janeiro - RJ

Date: 31/05/2019
Open Hours: 09h to 18h
Location: SINTTEL
Address: Morais e Silva Street, 94 - Maracanã | Rio de Janeiro - RJ

The cultural expression and knowledge of traditional peoples and communities are important marks in the identity of the state of Rio de Janeiro. They are Indigenous Peoples, Terreiro, Gypsies, Quilombolas, Artisanal Fishermen and Black Population that keep and bequeath us their food, mystical, religious, artistic and way of life.

These riches and values, however, are not always properly protected and valued. Traditional peoples and communities and their cultures are even more threatened in the current context of the loss of democratic rights and the advance of political-religious conservatism.

In view of this, the Community Action Center (CEDAC) and the State Food Security Council of the State of Rio de Janeiro (CONSEA-RJ), supported by the Rio de Janeiro Agroecology Association (AARJ) and the Justice Forum, invite to the Food and Nutrition Security Seminar of Traditional Peoples and Communities.

At the meeting we will (with) share knowledge, food and experience and discuss common resistance strategies.
