fj-a5-strategic-litigation-in-human-rights-v02 (1)Produced by the Justice Forum, the Public Defender's Office of Rio de Janeiro and its Center for Legal Studies, the Seminar drew attention to the importance of reflecting on strategic human rights litigation.

What characterize the practices of strategic litigation in Human Rights developed by the Public Defender? What is the role of human rights litigation in the macroeconomic framework of the Defensoria? What do the strategic litigation cases triggered by this institution drive with regard to learning and mobilization alternatives in the justice system? What are the necessary and emerging social articulations of acting in this field?

What conclusions on public policy control and visibility of demands and rights subjects can be drawn? What do (uns) successful experiences bring to the discussion of future scenarios? These and other issues will be addressed by the seminar, which brought together public defenders with legal professionals, activists, academics and academics from different states of Brazil.
